Mauritius COVID-19 Tax Measures

On 18th March 2020, the Prime Minister announced the first three cases of Corona Virus (“COVID-19”) infected person in Mauritius. Indeed, a confinement period of two weeks was declared starting on 20th March 2020 as from 6 a.m. which subsequently developed into a curfew on 23th March 2020. The curfew was subsequently extended to 4th May 2020. The operation of many businesses was impacted since only workers working in essential services could be present at their workplace. In order to help these companies, the Government of Mauritius has devised various schemes which are summarised here.
