The Junior IT Officer will be responsible for: assisting in the troubleshooting of hardware and software; providing technical support to end-users; maintain and monitor network performance; and maintain upkeep of servers, workstations, and other IT assets, among others. This is a foundational role designed to develop your technical competencies, provide practical on the job training to a dynamic IT environment, and support your professional growth. Under the guidance of Senior IT personnel, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day IT operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, systems and software.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, systems, and software
  • Provide first-level technical support to internal users for hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Set up, configure, and troubleshoot computer systems and applications as required
  • Support the management and basic troubleshooting of company networks and connectivity issues
  • Maintain and update inventory records of IT equipment and support procurement and asset tracking
  • Assist with regular system updates, backups, and implementation of IT security protocols
  • Support user onboarding and offboarding processes, including account setup and access rights management
  • Log, track, and escalate incidents using helpdesk or ticketing systems
  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement technical solutions, updates, and process enhancements
  • Keep current with IT best practices, tools, and emerging technologies

 

Requirements and skills

  • HSC and/or Holder of a Diploma, Degree or Certificate in any related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of experience in an IT support or systems-related role (internships included)
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking concepts, and office productivity software
  • Familiarity with hardware components, troubleshooting steps, and software installation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic IT setting
