
Biography
Akilesh is a distinguished finance and governance professional with over two decades of experience in governance, diplomacy, risk consulting, audit and assurance, advisory services, and forensic investigation. He currently serves as Lead Partner at Baker Tilly Mauritius, heading Strategy, Transformation and Global Outreach Solutions.
He brings deep expertise in the financial services sector, having previously served as Vice-Chairperson of the Financial Services Commission (FSC). Akilesh also managed multi-billion-dollar funding initiatives for international organizations based in Geneva, Switzerland, supported by the World Bank, with a distribution reach extending to over 138 countries.
His career also includes leadership roles at international organizations such as The Global Fund in Geneva and one of the Big Four accounting firms in Mauritius and across several African jurisdictions. As Vice-Chairperson of the FSC, he spearheaded numerous regulatory reforms and treaty negotiations impacting the financial services industry in Mauritius and internationally.
Akilesh is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with Finance.
